EA in 3 Presentations at Illinois Library Conference

Transformation: See Tomorrow Today was held at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois, October 6-9 and included three presentations by Engberg Anderson:
The Twenty-first Century Library: Tomorrow's Design is Here Today: Forward-thinking designs emphasizing green buildings, social space, merchandising, and self-service were highlighted in this pre-conference panel discussion and Q&A. EA's Joe Huberty was joined by Richard McCarthy of PSA Dewberry/BCA and Lonn Frye of FGM Architects along with library directors Carolyn Anthony of Skokie Public Library, Carole Medal of Gail Borden Public Library District, and Mary Pergander of Deerfield Public Library.
The Efficient, Saleable Public Library - Project Shoehorn: In tough times you have to do more with less. This program featured two solutions regarding space: 1) How to maximize the return on your existing builidng to drive circulation, improve staff efficiency, and become your community's center within the confines of your current builidng. 2) How to scale a library project to (over) taxed residents as a way to get a much needed facility constructed. Joe Huberty was joined by Kathy Parker of Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library, Megan Hilgas of New Vision Consultants, Don Peters and Kathryn I Martens of Crystal Lake Public Library and Tom Featherstone of Featherstone Inc.
Creating a New Model for Today's Branch: Mother nature is at it again. Fiscal constraints, suburban congestion, hectic schedules and higher service expectations bring out the best in public libraries. Presentation given on how we programmed, designed, built and staffed a high tech community living room that saves money each day. EA's Joe Huberty and Doug Skinner were joined by Carole Medal of Gail Borden Library District.
